The Superbowl is almost here (Sunday for those that don’t know). I kind of feel like the Superbowl isn’t as big as it used to be. I wonder if that’s because of the big changes in technology – we can always watch it the next day or watch the highlights later. Who knows what the case is or if it’s just me.
I always enjoy a good reason to get together with friends and family and eat though. Growing up in the South, we’ve always had amazing food at parties and always loved our football. Those food options are definitely not the healthiest though.
If you’re new to Paleo and are wondering how you’re going to make it through the Superbowl or even if you aren’t new to it, but usually cheat on days like this, then these recipes are for you. I try to be 100% Paleo with cheat meals here and there but I’m learning more and more that my body hates me after a cheat meal so it’s becoming less worth it.
Pigs in a Blanket
This is one of those quintessential football snacks. I know many people would have a hard time giving these up but now they don’t have to! Brittany Angell using a grain free pie recipe for the outside so you skip over those croissants! Check out her pigs in a blanket recipe.
Don’t these pizza bites by South Beach Primal look amazing? That’s because they are. Keep in mind, this is technically Primal since it has cheese (which I do use sparingly). If you are having a hard time kicking your pizza, try these out. Another idea that I personally do is use portabella mushrooms as my vessel.
Bacon Cauliflower Cheese Sticks
Have you started using cauliflower in place of flour? You should! I’ve used it for pizza crust and it’s really good. I’ve always made cauliflower fries in the oven and they were amazing. So, these bacon cauliflower cheese sticks look amazing!!
Bacon Jalapeño Cheese Bites
Missing your jalapeño poppers? Try these instead!
Baked Paleo Onion Rings
Garlic Dill Sweet Potato Wedges
Chunky Pineapple Guacamole with Sweet Potato Chips
I’m not even a big guacamole fan and this looks amazing! Adding pineapple to anything sounds pretty awesome to me. This one is by PaleOMG too.
What are you making for the Superbowl? Sticking to your diet or using it as a cheat day?
Have a wonderful Superbowl Sunday!
